How to Develop a Garment:

     Do you understand the process of creating a new garment?

     Do you know how we collaborate with designers?

              Sometimes a designer might have an idea, not necessarily a specific vision of how

the garment should look, her concept might be inspired by current trends, a historical period,

or a completely new interpretation of what fashion can be. She will probably ask us to source

fabric or trim first. The fabrics and trims will vary or be selected based on her idea. We explore

a wide range of fabrics and trims for the designer.

      After she has selected the fabric and trim, it becomes the starting point for creating a unique

piece of apparel. Before creating the garment, there is a costing step. The designer will make a

sketch of the dress, skirt, tops, or pants. We will calculate the yield, and based on that, as well as

the fabric, trim price, and workmanship fee, we will determine the garment price. If the price is

reasonable, then it’s time to make the apparel sample.

      Additionally, the sample will be fitted 1-2 times before being completed to achieve a perfect

look.
